I am a linux user who is surrounded by people who can't even open a website

I had to oder a black Nokia 2720 Flip on Ebay. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to stop studying/watching reviews etc. which distracts me from work.

Today I realized why my Austria photos get more likes and shares on the Fediverse. I understood this when I found a photographer from southern france who almost exclusively posts pics from/of southern france. People want to see and meet the locals. They want the original. None can show a deeper view into a region than a local. So if someone e.g. from Canada follows me, it's like they would travel to Austria. People don't want to see holiday snapshots. Although especially for a landscape photographers it's crucial to photograph different kinds of landscapes, no matter how good their travelphotos are, it's always the pics of their home region that they will have success with.

Did you use a ND fliter?
I think here an ND8.
What were your camera settings?
F/8 12.0mm 1/5s ISO-100, no tripod, lens m.zuiko 8-25
Without a tripod? You have a steady hand :)
Well the stabilizer is quite good, actually it should be bossible to shoot 1/2 sec or so but I can't. 1/5 is the lower border no matter what focal length.
oh ok, I thought about my Sigma lenses, which they don't have optical steady shot system and it's hard to get a steady shot with such long time, but my Sony lenses have and with these is much simpler.
Well the olympus/om system stabilizer is inside the camera body

AI learns as children do : by repeating what it is told. No innovation, no originality, just extracting patterns from training copora and inferring most probable associations from a request/prompt. Right now, humans have to learn how to talk to (prompt) generative AIs, so I'm not too concerned… Humans are still the ones having to adapt to the hickups of these probability boxes.

I think I just realized that the followers of my @Anna account are mostly hardcore hikers and mountain climbers. That's why I'm getting fewer favs for my Corfu photos. But I don't care.

On the Fediverse, I am known as the photographer of Austrian landscapes (betazoid@pixelfed.social). But really, I take photos of Austria because I happen to live here. Meanwhile I wonder: what kind of landscape is my favorite?

Since I started to take landscape shots, I made several journeys: Madeira, Tenerife and now Corfu. The journey to Madeira was already in 2018, I think it was the Ponta de Sao Lourenco that was kind of the gateway drug. But after that there was the Covid crisis and I did not have much money for traveling either. But originally I did not go to Madeira because I wanted to take photos but because I wanted to see the ocean. After Madeira I did not make regular trips to the Alps yet. That really started in 2020. Eventually I wanted to see the ocean again, and I wanted to photograph something other than mountains, lakes, waterfalls and canyons. I wanted to photograph the ocean. So eventually I flew to Tenerife. While I was there I had the feeling that I could not become part of the landscape, at least not as well as at home. But back home I realized that the photos turned out quite ok. But even though I went to Tenerife to photograph the sea, the best photos turned out to be those of the Teide. Kind of no surprise.
Now on Corfu it was much better in terms of being part of the landscape and I think this was really shooting the sea, at least much more than Tenerife.
Now I am asking myself: what should be my next destination, probably in October? I really liked Corfu, especially the Mediterranean atmosphere and I think I feel like exploring more Greek islands. Maybe Santorini or Zakythos?
I do have the plan to visit my cousin in the US, and I also want to see the Pacific eventully, but I think Europe is my home.

Today I made a trip to the islands paxos and antipaxos with a boat. About 10% of the passengers were american teenagers. They were completely out of their minds. The weather was pretty chilly. 18 degrees celsius, and on the sea there was a very strong wind. Nevertheless they were running around on the ship the whole day in string bikinis with bottles of beer. I have no idea how they could even stand. On antipaxos they jumped into the sea for a swim. After that they continued drinking beer even though they were shivering. And at the end of the day they were dark red because of the sunburn. I bet they are doing the same even when it's raining.

It's summer break for the top 2%. They live in a world where the sun always shines.

Matha Krumpecks arguments are convincing, she actually seems to be an intelligent woman even though I don't agree with her methods.

Yesterday I witnessed a dramatic mountain rescue mission. I had just finished my hike at the Hallstättersee and walked to the beach in Obertraun when suddenly a yellow notarzt helicopter landed 10 meters away from me on the meadow. The Bergretter jumped out with all kinds of luggage, the helicopter took off and floted several meters above the ground while the Bergretter hanged the stretcher and himself on the helicopter with the help of a rope. They flew away probably to the mountains on the eastern side of the lake. 15 minutes later they were back with the rescued person on the stretcher and the Bergretter and a Notarzt hanging on the stretcher. They had all kinds of portable medical devices, ultrasound etc and examined the person and gave him several infusions. After about 30 minutes they put the person on the stretcher into the helicopter, climbed into the helicopter and flew away, probably to the hospital.
Think twice before you go rock climbing and be careful! Being rescued from a mountain is not funny!

FYI you might receive notifications/new followers from accounts called betazoid@pleroma.s-a.at or anna@hubzilla.s-a.at or something similar. The reason for this are my current projects: testing all kinds of fediverse software, including setting up servers. So all those accounts are me. My main pixelfed account betazoid@pixelfed.social will stay as it is when I am done, but my other main fediverse account might become anna@hubzilla.s-a.at or something like that, eventually. At the moment this is my main account, although I still need to test pleroma more.
Also, at the moment I am constantly deleting and creating accounts and servers.... so don't be surprised!
